Three of the day #11

Don’t think that my long break from blogging means that I’ve forgotten about my three of the days, because it definitely does not. I think this might be my first summer- 3ad ever, so hopefully I won’t let you down! Haha.

Advice of the day:

Take advantage of the sun! The weather has been really on and of this summer, but lately it’s been generally good. So my advice is to take advantage of this. Go to the beach, or just read in the sun in your garden. Or take a page right out of my book and take a few selfies in the best lighting there is, natural light! There are endless things to do outside when you’re not half-freezing to death (I live in Norway, so I’d know). Bonus tip: Get a new pair of sunglasses and take some cool pics while you’re at it 😉

Motovation  of the day:

Since a lot of us are out on summer break, I don’t really know how much motovation is needed, but just incase your feeling down or not on break, we’re doing this right now, haha. Okay, so there are a lot of cool things going on right now, right? The sun, concerts, everyone bubbling of joy while daydreaming about the vacations. But what’s the best thing going on atm, you ask? Sales! June is the designated sales month of the season, and I personally, am here for it, and so should you be. So go out and see how much you can get for how little or buy something you’ve always wanted. June-shopping works for every budget! But if you really don’t have any money to spare right know, go outside and soak up some vitamin D. Free and guaranteed too make you feel great!

Fashion tip of the day:

Honestly, you can’t go wrong with a bikini top and high waisted jeans or shorts for your lounging, beaching (coming for you oxford dictionary 2018) or basically any other outdoor vacation stuff. Just bring along a t-shirt to throw on before entering a store.

Have a great day!

Three of the Day #10

Firstly I`d just like to say thank you so much for for helping me finally reach 100 WP followers! I am so grateful for each and every one of you. So now, to further spread the love, I am going to give you something back. My three of the day tips. Hopefully I can make your day a little better to. (Although it`d be near impossible for me to do as much for you as you have done for me). So, let`s go!

Advice of the day:

Get organized. I know that for a lot of us, exam time is coming up. Which is daunting enough, but don`t add the pressure of not being prepared. Of course not everyone now which classes they are getting examined in, but either way you should just make an overview of what classes you have and what you know best in each and what you don`t have completely under control. That way, when studying time comes around, you already know where to start and what to focus on. Gives you a little less to do in that stressful period and gives you something to do to avoid studying today. Win-Win! And f0r those of you who don`t go to school, don`t worry, i haven`t forgotten about you! We could all use some structure and direction in our lives. What you should do is sit down with a nice cup of tea and your favorite or new notebook and reflect on your life. Think in the lines of “where am I, and where do I want to be” also “what can I do today to create a better tomorrow for myself”.

Motivation of the day:

Okay, I personally hate the sun. I know, I know, it`s weird. But I do. However, this post is not about me. It`s about you. So since I am annoyingly aware of the sun lately, that`s what I`m going to remind you of to motivate you. The sun is shining, it`s getting warmer and everyday we get closer to summer vacation, lazy days at the beach and (my personal favorite) light summer dresses and wavy hair! We just have to make it through this season of flaky weather and pollen allergy. Which is a season that most people view as pretty beautiful and happy anyways. Birds chirping an flowers blossoming. I ain`t really all that bad guys! (though the exams are terrible)

Fashion tip of the day:

The statement belt. Soon summer will come around and we`ll all be wearing dresses with slim or no belts. Take this opportunity to dress up your winter clothes with a good, strong belt. Like one of these (click to be directed to site).

Three of the Day #9

As I am sitting in my mothers office completely taken over by caffeine and the excitement of only having four more days of school left before christmas break, I just really want to share that feeling with you guys! So here goes.

Advice of the day:

Watch this amazing Nat Chat that I was telling you about a few posts back. Christmas is a time were everybody should just be happy and relaxed and filled with holiday spirit and bliss. Yet, more often than not, we stress even MORE than usually. We stress about getting our christmas shopping done (I have not started yet, as usual around this time a year), about the infamous christmas cleaning, whether or not it will snow (like Natalia says in the video, don`t stress about the things you can`t control. We can not control this), what we are going to wear on christmas eve, what are kids are going to wear (do any of my readers have kids?). As the most stressed person in the world, there is no way I can tell you to stress down without being a hypocrite, so I`ll let NT do that for me. All I can say, is that this video has actually been of great help for me. And if there is hope for me, there is definitely hope for you.

Motivation of the day:

Christmas break is as I mentioned, right around the corner! That means that in a few days (are maybe even already depending on your schools or workplace system!) you will officially have permission to get up everyday at 1 pm in, lounge around in your quite checkered pyjamas and robe, and just lay on the couch for hours on end watching nostalgic christmas specials from Disney eating chocolate and marzipan. And in a few more days, you can stuff your face with the people you love AND get presents! How great is that? And even if you don`t celebrate christmas, you will most likely still have the holiday, which is great in it self! And let`s not forget that a new year is approaching. Finally we will all have (somewhat) clean slates and new possibilities waiting for us 🙂

Fashion tip of the day:

If you`re going to be wearing PJ`s for a week (many of us are, don`t be ashamed) at least wear some cute, instagram worthy PJ`s. Also, pair them with super comfertable slippers. It`s really the only outfit that can get away with it anyways. Every christmas my grandmother gets my a pair of high slippers (kind of boot-like), and they`re so comfy! Also, they have small gripper thingies in rubber on the soles so you won`t sleep because my grandmother is highly concerned with the level of clumsyness that I inhabit. Back to the point. Wear cute pyjamas. And don`t be afraid to wear some accesories with it, so your make-up and style your hair. Ao what if it seems “fake”, it looks and feels awesome! Personly, I am not the type to wear pyjamas for longer than two hours after I get up, but if I do, I really love the dolled up pyjamas look. Is that a thing? I don`t even know. Well it is now. #dolleduppjs2016

Three of the day #8

It literally feels like forever since I`ve posted a “three of the day”, and I`m not sure why, since I really love writing them. I guess maybe at some point I felt that it was ridiculous for me to give others advice when my life is 100 % not together. But my new philosophy is that anyone, literally anyone, has something to offer and can be at least a small kind of guru. And even if you find what I`m writing pointless and unhelpful, I at least hope that you can pick up some positive vibes from it. I personally place vibes very highly, whether it comes to people, movies, artwork or places. Even when I write poems or speeches, I always just go with my instincts and try to follow a certain vibe. I definitely feel like humans haven`t lost the instincts that we see in the animal world, we`ve just stopped listening to it, and I think vibes is an undergroup of this. Like bad vibes to protect you from people you should avoid, positive vibes to give you energy to go about life`s boring or difficult tasks and a sense of purpose, and of course a general feel of all kinds of vibes to create beauty in art, fashion, words and everyday life. Sorry for that painfully long intro, but alas here are “three of the day”.

Advice of the day:

You know how where always advised to not put on too warm clothes in fall and beginning of winter, because when the real cold kicks in, we won`t be able to take are warmth game up that necessary notch to keep us from being in cold wind hell? No? Well, at least we get that tip here in Norway. And it is totally smart! Well, I personally feel like this tip is transferable to Christmas. Christmas is just pure fun, right? So therefore it is super easy to just dive right in. Listening to every Christmas song imaginable, gorging yourself in marzipan, Christmas tree shaped chocolate and holiday specials from Disney. The thing is though, that if you go full blown anti-Grinch from December first, then I almost guarantee that the real Christmas will not feel as special as it could have been, and it will actually be pretty anti-climactic (aka one of the worst feelings ever). However, I also believe in building the Christmas spirit. I mean, from the 22nd it is basically Christmas, and I will refuse to watch any movie without at least one Christmas tree or snow globe. And of course December is the Christmas month. But just take it slow. Instead of watching five Christmas movies every Saturday and Sunday, watch like two a week. Of course I`m not going to give you a detailed plan on how to do Christmas (I`m a narcissist, not a self proclaimed dictator), I just hope that you can “take it slow and let the good times roll”. (Sorry, die hard American Pie fan over here).

Pretty much sums it up for my part!

Fashion tip of the day:

Oversized sweaters! In particular oversized knitted sweaters. It`s winter, which means it is about time to break out those comfortable and warm, yet also super stylish (at least for the most part) giant sweaters! I mean, if warm, big, super cute clothes are wrong, than I don’t wanna be right. Just don’t ever pair it with big, flowy pants or a long, wide skirt. I will die and come back to haunt you. It would be horrible to make any fashion mistakes with this type of piece when there are literally so many different ways to wear it, and so few ways to mess up. Variations include (but are definitely not limited to): pairing it with jeans, leggings, skirt with tights, shorts with tights, tall boots, ankle boots, flats, sneakers, big statement jewelry, with belt (incredible must try), no belt. Note: If you are the one to pull it off, shorts with thin tights (pantyhose) and knee highs or legwarmers is basically mandatory due to unexplained awesomeness and incredible aesthetics.

So that concludes the “Three of The Day” for today. Vibe: Winter, Christmas and exploration.

How to organize your bookshelf

Lately I have been trying to really go through my stuff and get rid of stuff I don`t need as well as building a system. I mean I have a system. The type of system where you remember which jeans are in which chair. But lately I have been wanting a more military style system. So yesterday my bookshelf was in focus. It turned out really great and I had a weird sense of OCD infused pride. So this is how I did it.

Step 1: Place the newest books on top

I know this doesn`t sound super crucial, but it is actually quite logical when you think of it. First of all, it is easier to access the books you have bought and want to read. And second, newer books generally look better and shinier. You should also place your favorites on top if you like to reread them or if they just feel special to you.

Step 2: Place series and aurthors together

When you have the books on top, you are ready to decide placements. This should be sorted by series together and those together in groups of the author. Then place thye series and single books by height as best you can.

Step 3: Place “impressive” books and academic books on the shelfs under the first ones

By impressive books I mean slightly pretenious books such as “Catcher in the rye” and “Pride and prejeduice”. We are doing this for two reasons. A. easy access. B. it looks good. Long live vanity. I know mine will.

Step 4: Sort the others

This is done in this order of importance: series, author, height, publishing house series, color.

Step 5: Add elements

Bookshelf usually contain more than just books. Often they contain messes as well. But today we are going to place choosen items in the shelf, not random. This can for example be a statuette, some magazines on the inside or a pair of sunglasses on the outside.

Here are pictures of how my shelf turned out. But note that I had to give away around 25 books and put away around 80-100 to not have to place any on top of eachother. That doesn`t mean that you can`t. Place all you want, as long as you aviod total chaos. Than the point is kind of lost.

While I am sorting out my room I am considering doing a series on stuff like this. What do you think?

Three of the day #7

So, as you now know I am currently petsitting in an interestingly boring suburb. So as there is nothing going on in my life at the moment other than periodically walking a dog and waiting up for one cat and feeding the shy one, I found it difficult to find inspiration for my post. Luckily, I managed to find something. So here we go.
Advice of the day:

Most of us have summer vacation and the weather gods have been pretty generous this year and blessed us with several of sunny days. Although that might actually be global warming now that I think of it. Either way I would say we all have plenty of beach days and sunbathing ahead of us this year. Therefore, my tip is as simple as this, focus less on the summer and more on the vacation in summer vacation for a day. Doing things is obviously super fun, but taking it slow, that really energizes you and thats what we talk about doing every weekend but never get to do because of homework, tests and papers. So watch that show on Netflix, read that book or have a Star Wars nerd-athon. And most important of all, do not feel guilty! No law says you have to spend every sunny day outside (unless you live in Maine or the UK, than you make the sunny days your bitch). Just relax 🙂

Motovation of the day:

This is going to be short, because as I said, I do not really have the opportunity to find anything groundbreaking here. But here goes. I want to tell you all about a miracle. A miracle that occured yesterday. I was bored out of my mind and end up eating, alot. Among other things a baguette with nutspread and an ENTIRE pack of oreos. But you know what, I did’nt die and I did not gain weight. So I guess it’s true what they say, fortune favours the bold. So obviously my point isn’t that you should go out and eat a bunch of stuff. But I am saying that you should do what you want and not be afraid to take chances or feel dumb. If my stomach can survive, then so can you.

Fashion tip of the day:

Speaking of bold, I am madly in love with all the bold lipcolors going around. Lipsticks, lipglsosses and lipstains. All equally amazing in bright, flashy, yet classy, colors. And lets not forget about the 2016 stapple, lipliner. But seriosly, I just bought a red lipstain and I love it! I’m totally buing at least one pink one when I get back home. Lips are so important, so lets make ’em pop!
That would be all, have a great weekend!
