Three of the Day #9

As I am sitting in my mothers office completely taken over by caffeine and the excitement of only having four more days of school left before christmas break, I just really want to share that feeling with you guys! So here goes.

Advice of the day:

Watch this amazing Nat Chat that I was telling you about a few posts back. Christmas is a time were everybody should just be happy and relaxed and filled with holiday spirit and bliss. Yet, more often than not, we stress even MORE than usually. We stress about getting our christmas shopping done (I have not started yet, as usual around this time a year), about the infamous christmas cleaning, whether or not it will snow (like Natalia says in the video, don`t stress about the things you can`t control. We can not control this), what we are going to wear on christmas eve, what are kids are going to wear (do any of my readers have kids?). As the most stressed person in the world, there is no way I can tell you to stress down without being a hypocrite, so I`ll let NT do that for me. All I can say, is that this video has actually been of great help for me. And if there is hope for me, there is definitely hope for you.

Motivation of the day:

Christmas break is as I mentioned, right around the corner! That means that in a few days (are maybe even already depending on your schools or workplace system!) you will officially have permission to get up everyday at 1 pm in, lounge around in your quite checkered pyjamas and robe, and just lay on the couch for hours on end watching nostalgic christmas specials from Disney eating chocolate and marzipan. And in a few more days, you can stuff your face with the people you love AND get presents! How great is that? And even if you don`t celebrate christmas, you will most likely still have the holiday, which is great in it self! And let`s not forget that a new year is approaching. Finally we will all have (somewhat) clean slates and new possibilities waiting for us 🙂

Fashion tip of the day:

If you`re going to be wearing PJ`s for a week (many of us are, don`t be ashamed) at least wear some cute, instagram worthy PJ`s. Also, pair them with super comfertable slippers. It`s really the only outfit that can get away with it anyways. Every christmas my grandmother gets my a pair of high slippers (kind of boot-like), and they`re so comfy! Also, they have small gripper thingies in rubber on the soles so you won`t sleep because my grandmother is highly concerned with the level of clumsyness that I inhabit. Back to the point. Wear cute pyjamas. And don`t be afraid to wear some accesories with it, so your make-up and style your hair. Ao what if it seems “fake”, it looks and feels awesome! Personly, I am not the type to wear pyjamas for longer than two hours after I get up, but if I do, I really love the dolled up pyjamas look. Is that a thing? I don`t even know. Three of the day! #6

Advice of the day:

In anticipation of something, like a summer break, one might get a little tense. You feel like the summer is here, yet you still have work to do. It`s like being stuck in the limbo of school and work. So I guess my advice, is to make sure you get enough rest. It might be tempting to stay up all night when you know that you are not having any tests in the near future, and I`d know, as I did this just a couple nights ago. But what’s easy to forget is that you still have to get up early the next morning. And trust me, listening to whatever fake lectures your school has made up this year, while nearly falling asleep for 8 hours, is not fun and not worth it. So yeah, instead of spending all that extra time on your hands on Netflix, spend it on resting and taking care of yourself. Trust me; you will have lots of time to watch Netflix later on.

 

Motivation of the day:

Growing up, three out of four of my aunts smoked. I guess I did not really have a grasp on how tight an addiction can hold you at that time, because I kept telling them again and again to stop. I just did not want anything to happen to them. Now, this isn’t going to be a fairytale story about how all of my aunts joined some amazing club and quit smoking forever. I am however going to share with you that a couple of years back my oldest aunt, who is know 56, quit smoking! After being at it for years and years she managed to quit, all by herself. And I think that is kind of beautiful. And I most certainly find it motivational. If a woman over halfway in her life can change something that fundamental, than we most certainly can to. And guess what? For once, we actually have time for it to. So whether you want to change something, like stop smoking or buy less stuff online (me!), or you want to do something, like finally finish knitting that sweater or write a book, you now can. You have the time, and I know you have the ability!

 

Fashion tip of the day:

Earlier today I put on an outfit consisting of a cape, a crop top and a skirt. As it turned out, it was not just cold in the morning as I figured since it happens a lot here. It was raining, and was supposed to be all day. So I decided not to wear the skirt. This is where having pants the same length up the stomach came in handy. So my tip is to either have outfits that you can easily change the temperature of, like by wearing a cardigan or cape over a top, or have outfits to choose from that will work with either pants or a skirt. This usually goes for tighter or shorter tops. Or both haha. Anyways, that was my little, probably to obvious, tip for today. And here’s a bad picture I took of my outfit in pants 🙂

Three of the day! #5

Summer is in the air, literally, and it is only appropriate that I have my little tips and tricks written accordingly for today’s three of the day. I will go over what to do for those insanely hot days, and what to do for the cold summer nights that we all know too well. Unfortunately, there is nothing I can do about the mosquitoes. So, in the undying word of Steve Stifler “just take it slow, and let the good times roll”

 

Advice of the day

Prepare for summer. Write all of your lists. Your to do lists, your bucket list for the summer and your shopping list. Organize, but also leave A LOT of room for just being spontaneous. But don’t end your preparations there.  Decide what popsicles or poptails to make. Buy your swimwear. Find what Netflix shows you are going to binge watch. Because let us be honest here. No matter how much you love the sun and how many plans you have, you will spend hours under the blanket watching Netflix. So why not have a plan? Right? Plan to have fun. And remember, plan to relax.

Motivation of the day

You did it. No matter if you just finished a semester or another year of work or self-care, you did it. Now you can finally relax and just give yourself a pat on the shoulder, because you my friend, are a motherfucking champion. Every year we stress and stress and stress. We write papers, take customer complaints, try to stay healthy, do our personal projects and take care of our houses, families and to some degree our selves. But now is the time to look at the back of that list. I know that most of us, and me especially, work more on accomplishing than just being and relaxing. So know is the time to put all your competitiveness to the side and just relax.

Fashion tip of the day

The summer has this annoying tendency to be a little too hot in the day and a little bit to cold in the night. How do we solve this unfair #struggle? Ponchoes and capes of course. No, I am not talking about the horrible circus tent Betty wore in the pilot Ugly Betty. I`m talking about the Wilhelmina worthy capes you find these days and that I`ve personally acquired a couple of myself this year. You can get them in any color or shape. And also any material. So we have the chill, over bikini ponchos and the keep-warm-while-looking-stylish capes. Here are a couple examples.  The first of which I have myself.

Three of the day #4

 

It is that kind of day. And by that I do not mean those infamous days were everything seems to be going against you. I do not even mean that horrific first day of your period. The horrors we are forced to face this time is something much more unavoidable. Sunday. I once said that Sunday is like the last meal on death row. Of course, that is a completely exaggerated and probably inappropriate joke. But the point stands. It is hard to enjoy Sunday because it is the stepping-stone to Monday. Yet, I say we give it a shot. Hey ho, let’s go.

 

Advice of the day:

Today I am going to hand you with an advice that I thought I would never share. But giving that a few of my closest friends practically are professionals in this area I figured it would be appropriate. As you know, it is really hard to relax right before the week begins when a lot of us feel like we have achieved nothing this weekend. Like, literally nothing. Let’s face it, most of us have either basically grown in to or couch, filled are selves with the beautiful poison we call alcohol or possibly contracted a hush-hush disease. So instead of saying something ridicules like “do your homework” or “clean your room” which granted probably is what we should actually be doing, I am going to give you a realistic and much- better-for-your-health advice. Go into the sea of fucking epic TV-shows and movies. Just dive right in there, get hocked and spend the rest of your day getting so sucked in that you can relax guilt-free and actually be in a somewhat good mood come Monday morning. If you are a sucker for Netflix like my friends, and as much as I hate to say it, myself as well to some degree, I have some recommendations for you. Sleepy Hollow, Black List, How to get away with murder, Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Grace and Frankie are pretty amazing. There is this other show to that I am desperately trying to remember the name of, but I will get back to you on that. Just follow my advice. You will not regret it. Until like 3 am in the morning. Haha, moving on.

Sometimes it is about feeling good and feeling motivated to do what you really want, whatever that may be. When it comes to fashion tip of the day, just wrap yourself in duvets, blankets and covers. I know I for one am not leaving this house. The amount of snow here is ridiculous. So wear whatever you want, just, for the love of God, choose jeans over sweatpants. That clothing has just gone too far in our society. Until next time peeps!

Yay, MONDAY!

Said no normal, living human being ever!

Still we cannot be defeated just because this day stands for everything evil. The end of the weekend, the start of a new week at school and work, getting up early after no sleep, sacrifices of young virgins. Okay, maybe not the last one, but you get the point. We have to turn this douchy day around! Therefore, with no further ado, here are my suggestions.

Advice of the day:

Take naps. It is called power naps for a reason. They give you the power to get through the day. And when do you need that the most? Mondays. My friend and I are basically just walking zombies. Even now when I am writing this post in the school cafeteria, which is really fun since I love blogging, I am leaned over by sleepiness and basically dead. So this s being written from a semi-laying position. That does not make it any less important though. After school, I have two hours before work, and you best believe that I will be napping. Yes, sometimes after a nap I feel horrible. I am dizzy, dehydrated and itchy as fuck! But in the long run, when you do not fall asleep involuntary or keep losing focus in conversations, it is definitely worth it. Besides, while you are napping, you feel better than ever. And I think one of the most important strategies for getting through tiresome days, is taking breaks were you just forget about everyone and everything. Yoga, books, daydreaming and naps are perfect for this. Advice of the day: Take a break!

Motivation of the day:

The snow is disappearing, which can only mean one thing. The shoe season is right around the corner! Dig out your convers, your ballerinas and your high heels. The ground is nearly bare and you can wear anything on your feet without the fear of dying. Unless you were crocs, than I will kill you. Other than that, go crazy! The motivation to get you through today is that you can go home and raid your closets, suitcases and boxes from under your beds. And do not forget the wonders of shopping! Shop `till you drop, literally if you forget to nap.

Fashion tip of the day:

Belt up! Even though the snow is close to gone, and the weather is getting warmer, it is still cold enough that we dress warm. This often involves big, woolen garments. For example ponchos and big sweaters. This can often be excessive and lumpy. Therefor my tip is to put a belt around your waist so it feels less overpowering and so that you feel more, you know, women like. Plus, small things like this can often make or break an outfit. So belt up, bitches!

Three of the day #2

Todays three of the day is actually meant for tomorrow. As we know, Tuesdays is that day of the week where the weekend feeling has passed and we feel far from half way into the week. Yet, we have to keep a positive attitude! We do not want worry-wrinkles and darkened circles under our eyes from stress and bore, now do we? Therefore, without further ado, here is this week Tuesday edition of three of the day.

 

Advice of the day:

This is going to sound insane, but I swear it is in a mad genius kind of way. As I mentioned earlier, Tuesdays are kind of a bore because there is really no kind of positive spin we can put on it. Except, this one. If Tuesdays are beyond saving anyways, there is really only one thing to do. We move the most boring stuff to this day, so that the days that are actually within reach of saving, can be saved. That feeling in your stomach, those rolling eyes and the voice in your head that says that it is the stupidest thing you have heard, I have those to. My aching back and sleepy eyes are all like “Zoë, are you insane?” Maybe I am. Maybe I am not. Either way, I know that we all know from experience how amazing you feel after finishing something you have been dreading, and how lovely it is to be able to relax, knowing that it is all thanks to yourself. For example, yesterday I finished my work with psychology 1, and know have all the answers and notes for the course to review before my exam. And after having worked on that for hundreds of hours, finishing it was the best feeling in the world! That is why I am going to do my painfully boring homework and assignments tomorrow, so that the rest of the week can fit in plenty of me time. And trust me, slightly narcissistic people as my self need A LOT of me time.  And I advise you to do the same (duh, advice of the day), and almost guarantee that the rest of your week will be a lot easier if you do.

Fashion tip of the day:
Focus on accessories.
If you are like me, chances are that you will be tired tomorrow. Therefore, my advice to you is to not wear the tightest jeans and the most complicated layered tops. Instead, wear a minimalistic outfit, perhaps completely white to emphasize the minimalistic image while still looking stylish as never before. Instead of wearing a complicated outfit, focus on accessories. Long or hopped earrings pair excellent with a high ponytail, and add a statement necklace to easily look dressed up. Never overlook the power of ring sets, consisting of several slim, simple rings, and a focus-grabbing bracelet. It might be to snowy or slippery to wear shoes over boots, so prioritize purses. Choose a big, bold one or a small, complimenting one. Either way, own it! So there is my simple, yet hopefully useful, tip of the day. Basic outfit, bitching accessories.

Three of the day #1 Why Wednesday?!

For my first ever three of the day, I will sort of focus on the good, the bad and the wednesday, which is part of both. Please excuse all of my bad jokes, my three tips are better, I swear. Okay, I hope. Lets just find out.

Advice of the day:

Wednesdays are famously known for being the dullest and longest lasting day of the week. Therefore, we must beat it. We cannot outrun it, but we can fight it. Are you bored? Entertain yourself with small games. Count how many times your teacher or boss uses that same word or says the name of that annoying person. You lack motivation? Make a list of what you are there for, both short-term and long term. Maybe you can relax better at the party this weekend knowing that you have worked hard. Or maybe you need to pass school or get through this boring Wednesday in that boring job so that you can do what you really want. Do you want to be a lawyer? A fashion designer? Or perhaps a successful entrepreneur? Do you want a big house, or a massive wardrobe? No matter what your dreams are, know that each second you are a little bit closer. And do not forget, once you are through today, Friday is only a day away!

Today’s motivation:

Yes, I am one of those grandparent-like people who use long, weird stories to make points. With that said, let us go back to my weird story that I swear has a point. Okay, as many of you may know this has been a particularly cold, snowy and icy winter. For a freshly born Bambi such as the 5 foot 10 myself, this brings some challenges. So the other day I was rushing from campus to get to the library, yes the library. As you know, in snow-filled times as these, plowing leaves us with these impossibly thick walls of snow that you have to climb. To add to my suffering, nature thought it would be a great idea to make this edge incredibly icy, and therefore slippery. So I am rushing from campus, and try to climb this massive edge-wall combo. So what happens when a Bambi tries to climb the wall of horror? I will tell you what happened. I started falling. I literally slipped around on top of this edge for 45 seconds straight. Which I wish I could say was not classic me, but unfortunately it is. So where is the motivation? Well, after slipping around with a fear and almost insight of a certain death, I actually managed to catch balance. And if I can keep myself from falling on the wall of horror with my incredibly limited capacity, you can do ANYTHING! You want to pass algebra? You can do it! You want to became President? You can do it! And you most certainly can get through this day! Reach for the stars! But seriously, stay safe on the ice.

Today’s fashion tip:

Famous words from a beloved character “On Wednesdays we wear pink”. Yes, for the first ever tip on my blog; let us just keep it simple. I personally believe that the plastics do not just wear pink on Wednesdays because it is a “girly” color, but also because on the middle day of the week you need something uplifting. It is hard to find something as uplifting as the color pink. It is simple, beautiful and reminds us of a more joyful time. Now, I am not saying that you have to put on a summer dress, a big pink shirt or even a pink t-shirt. Even though I am not saying that you should not do that, because those things are great! Except, unless you live in a particularly warm area you should probably hold the summer dress. The point is that even if it is just your bracelet, your nails or your purse that has this color, the detail will not go unnoticed and is sure to lift your outfit, and probably your mood as well!

“On Wednesdays we were pink”. Rule to live by from the classic Tina Fey movie “Mean Girls”. Hanging tight for the third!
